Ethics
Ethical fundraising is paramount to EFA and its membership. Essentially, this means fundraising in accordance not only with national and international law, but with best practice guidelines.
All of EFA's member associations and their membership abide by the standards set out in the International Statement of Ethical Principles, co-ordinated by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). EFA fed into the development of this Statement in July 2018.
Here at EFA, we believe that only by practicing consistently high fundraising standards across Europe, can we work together to build public trust and encourage philanthropy.
Many of our members have their own national ethical guidance, setting out the do's and don'ts for fundraising ethically.
Typically, ethical statements may cover broad issues such as transparency and accountability, treating donors with honesty, integrity and respect, payment of fundraisers on commission, partnerships with businesses and guidance specific to particular fundraising
