Two new searchable portals have been launched as part of a collaborative initiative to coordinate and promote funding opportunities and fundraising appeals in support of the Ukraine crisis.
Developed by eight European philanthropy partners, these new portals serve as a hub to coordinate the efforts, initiatives and calls for donations from the European philanthropy sector and NGO community in Ukraine and neighbouring countries.
In a statement, funding partner Philea states:
“The philanthropy sector has been swift in its response to the devastating situation in Ukraine, mobilising funds, donations, undertaken needs assessments and issued statements in support of the worst affected.
“It has been united and unequivocal in supporting all those who defend international humanitarian law and the protection of civilians and civil society, in Ukraine, in Russia, in Belarus and around the world.”
The portals PhilanthropyForUkraine.eu and NGOforUkraine.eu directly support the work of two key stakeholders; NGOs / nonprofit organisations and philanthropic organisations / funders.
NGOs and nonprofits can promote their appeals and needs for support to a community of philanthropic actors, while also navigating funding opportunities. Meanwhile, philanthropic organisations can share updates on resources mobilised to support Ukraine, the pledges and commitments made by their peers, and better understand and respond to the needs of nonprofit organisations.
A simple online template allows both funders and nonprofits to upload relevant details directly to the portals in their own languages.
By bringing both communities together, Philea and partners hope that this will allow for more targeted support for the millions of people suffering as a result of the invasion.
