March 16, 2022The impact of factors including the pandemic and the shift to digital on supporter behaviour and nonprofit activity means fundraiser roles are changing, making it critical that professional training keeps up.
In Europe, 60% of nonprofits are now engaging in online fundraising with a further 15% saying they plan to do so soon, according to the recent 2021 Global NGO Technology Survey, summarised here. In the UK, for example, other research shows that 83% of charities started offering services online during the pandemic.
To ensure that the CFRE examination continues to reflect current practices in the fundraising profession, CFRE International is seeking fundraisers across Europe to take part in a survey on their day-to-day job tasks.
CFRE runs the Fundraising Job Task Analysis Survey every five years, using its findings to inform the content for the CFRE exam. It is keen to ensure that it includes data from fundraising professionals in Europe so that the exam is representative of the work they conduct.
The CFRE Job Task Analysis Survey lists all the tasks that are currently on its test content outline and asks respondents to indicate how important they are and how often they perform them. This will allow CFRE to rank the frequency and importance of each. EFA is also collecting demographic information to better understand the fundraising population that currently exists. Lastly, it is asking for input on the CFRE eligibility requirements to make sure that what it requires of candidates aligns with the content they need to understand to successfully pass the CFRE exam.
CFRE will use this information to create a new test content outline that will reflect the current fundraising activities in the industry
The survey closes on 25 March, and members of EFA’s network of fundraising associations taking part can access a 20% discount for CFRE certification or recertification if they tick the EFA box when asked which organisations they are a member of. Those who complete the survey will also receive one CFRE Continuing Education Point and be entered for a chance to win a US$100 Amazon gift card. Questions can be directed to Sara Duginske, CFRE International’s Certification & Accreditation Director.
