December 11, 2024Younger Belgians more open to legacy giving, study shows
December 11, 2024More than 1,000 podcasters from 32 countries have registered so far to take part in a global event that aims to raise awareness of nonprofits.
Podcasthon started in France in 2023 and expanded to French-speaking countries in 2024, when it involved 400+ podcasters from France, Belgium, Switzerland, Quebec, and some African nations.
For the third edition in March 2025, it is opening up to English-speaking countries. Those taking part so far include USA (337 podcasters), France (333), the UK (120), Canada (80), Australia (37), Belgium (18), and South Africa (15), with English-speakers currently accounting for 61.5% of podcasters. 13 countries are for the moment symbolically represented by a single podcast, including Norway, Malaysia, Jamaica, Japan, New Zealand and Portugal.
Jérémie Mani, co-founder of Podcasthon commented:
“This milestone [of 1,000 podcasts] is not just a number; it’s a testament to the power of collective action in the podcasting community.”
Co-founder Yves Delnatte, added:
“Each registration represents a commitment to making a difference, to leveraging the intimacy and authenticity of podcasts to drive awareness for important causes.”
Podcasthon sees podcasters choose a charity and dedicate a special episode to them, releasing them on their usual platforms between March 15 and 21 next year, before pasting the URL into their Podcasters Space on the Podcasthon website. This enables all episodes to be showcased together, while having a coordinated one-week release creates a global event, amplifying visibility for both charities and podcasters.
Any podcaster can participate, regardless of their audience size, provided they maintain quality and consistency. Of the 1,000 podcasters already registered: 35.5% are ranked in the global top 10% by ListenNotes. Platforms including Acast, Ausha, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify are supporting the initiative.
Podcasters can also choose any nonprofit, from international NGOs to local nonprofits that resonate with the podcaster or their audience. As well as focusing on their chosen nonprofit, podcasters are asked to include key phrases about Podcasthon, and to promote their episode, tagging Podcasthon on social media so they can be amplified by liking, commenting, and sharing.
Podcasters can register here, and nonprofits are also invited to register to increase their chances of being featured.
