Fundraising ethics was the core focus of the recent International Congress of Fundraisers in Ukraine, tying in with the ongoing development of a Code of Ethics for practitioners.
Hosted by the Ukrainian Institute of Professional Fundraising on January 26, 2013, 30 NGO representatives attended the event.
Key discussions addressed notoriously difficult issues, such as the acceptance or refusal of donations if the donor’s principles and values are not aligned with that of the charity. Delegates also debated the commercial activities and business of nonprofits.
Participants were encouraged to join the work on the development of a code of ethics for fundraisers in Ukraine. The Code concept was presented by the Institute of Professional Fundraising and is now in consultation with fundraisers.
