Charities in Ireland should devote sufficient resources for wages and administration to ensure the highest standards in their operations, but must at all times display full transparency and accountability in how they fundraise and the allocation of fundraised money, says the ICTR - a representative body for charities in Ireland.
The Irish Minister for Justice, Equality and Defence, Alan Shatter, has announced the appointment of Úna Ní Dhubhghaill as the first Chief Executive Designate to the Charities Regulatory Authority and Conor Woods as Chairperson Designate in recent weeks.
The Irish Government has approved plans to establish an independent Charities Regulatory Authority for Ireland, under the terms of the 2009 Charities Act. The new Authority will come into operation in 2014.
